Oracle EPM and Monitoring your environments - Step by Step process !

Monitoring Environments Using Oracle Cloud Applications

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud provides My Services to monitor environments. My Services application provides both summary and detailed information to monitor active environments belonging to one identity domain.

  • My Services (Classic) - You use My Account application to monitor environments across multiple data centers and identity domains.
  • My Services (OCI) - My Account application is not available. Instead, you use Manage Account application for account management.

Using the Activity Report

The Activity Report enables Service Administrators to understand application usage. It also helps streamline application design by identifying user requests, calculation scripts, forms, reports, and so on. Two versions of the report; an HTML version and a JSON version, are available.

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud retains Activity Reports for the last 60 days only. Oracle recommends that you download and create backup copies on a local computer to analyze them for historical trends.

The Activity Report is automatically generated in these three situations:

  • Every day during daily maintenance of the service
  • Each time you submit a Provide Feedback submission
  • Every time you execute the "resetServiceEPM Automate command to restart an environment

EPM Cloud generates an additional Activity Report each time a user submits a feedback using the Provide Feedback Utility. This report, additionally, displays information that the user submitted, for example, screen shots and problem description.

Navigating the Activity Report

Select one of the following tabs for quick access to relevant information:

  • User Interface: Information about users who accessed the service.
  • Hourly: Hourly metrics including those on user interface requests and responses and Essbase operations.
  • Runtime: Runtime metrics for the application in your environment such as Supplemental Data Manager Active Data Collection Periods or Open Account Reconciliations.
  • Application: Application design metrics such as Task Manager Org Units or Essbase ASO Cubes.
  • Operational: Operational Metrics such as Daily Maintenance Duration in minutes.
  • Usage: Usage by most and least active users.

Using Access Logs to Monitor Usage

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Access Log, which helps Service Administrators understand application usage by each active user, is automatically generated during the daily maintenance of the environment.

The Access Log contains information on users who logs into the environment directly or by using tools such as EPM Automate.

EPM Cloud retains Access Logs for the last 60 days only. Oracle recommends that you download and create backup copies on a local computer to analyze them for historical trends. The Access Log for the day will not be available if you cancel the daily maintenance of the environment.
