Hyperion 11.2 Start and Stop script using a single script

Starting and Stopping EPM System Using a Single Script

Use a single script to start or stop all Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System services. EPM System Installer installs a single start script in EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE /bin, called start.bat | start.sh .

Running the single start script on a machine in your EPM System deployment starts all EPM System services installed on that machine. The single start script works by calling the individual start scripts for every product.

The user running the start script should be a member of the Administrators group.

To start EPM System services:

  1. From the Start menu, select Oracle EPM System, and then Start EPM System.
  2. Run this start script on each machine in your environment.

After the single start script completes, you can run Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Diagnostics to determine which services on a machine are running. See Validating the Installation and Verifying Deployment.

Note:

To stop EPM System services: A single stop script is also installed in EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE /bin, called stop.bat | stop.sh . Running the stop script on a machine in your EPM System deployment stops all EPM System products on that machine. To stop services, from the Start menu, select Oracle EPM System, and then Stop EPM System.

Using Essbase 21c with EPM System

Using Essbase 21c with EPM System

Beginning with Release 11.2.8, you can use Oracle Hyperion Planning and Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management applications from an Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System deployment to report on Oracle Essbase cubes in a Oracle Essbase 21c deployment integrated with EPM Shared Services.

Installation considerations in a Linux distributed environment:

  • Machine 1 - Install and configure all the EPM system products such as Hyperion Shared Servics, Financial Reporting, PLanning and Calculation Manager.
  • Machine 2 - Install and configure HPCM and Essbase 21c. Set up Essbase 21c and register it to Hyperion Shared services running on Machine 1.

    Note:

    • Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management must be Installed and Configured on Machine 2 along with Essbase 21.2.2 where APS is up and running.
    • If you choose to use Essbase 21c instead of Essbase 11.1.2.x, ensure that you perform an upgrade only via LCM to import your Planning applications.
    • Essbase 21c is only supported in NON_HYBRID mode.

Hyperion Essbase Patch Set Update 11.1.2.4.047

The Hyperion Product Management recently advised the release of Patch Set Updates (PSU) for Oracle Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2.4.x.

These PSU downloads are available from the  My Oracle Support > Patches & Updates section.

Hyperion Essbase Server 11.1.2.4.047

Hyperion Essbase Client 11.1.2.4.047

Hyperion Essbase Administration Services 11.1.2.4.047

  • 33485370 - Hyperion Essbase Administration Services Server
  • 33485372 - Hyperion Essbase Administration Services Client MSI

Hyperion Analytic Provider Services 11.1.2.4.047

  • 33485394 - Hyperion Analytic Provider Services

README FILE:

Refer to the Readme files prior to proceeding with these PSU implementations for important information that includes the supported paths per component, along with a full list of the defects fixed, additional support information, prerequisites, details for applying patch and troubleshooting FAQ's. It is important to ensure that the requirements and support paths to this patch are met as outlined within the Readme file.

The Readme file is available from the Patches & Updates download screen for each of the Hyperion Essbase components.

Recommendations:

Caution: Oracle recommends using the same version of all Essbase portfolio products (Essbase, Essbase Administration Services, Hyperion Provider Services, and Essbase Studio) and components (server, client, runtime client, API, and JAPI). When only some Essbase portfolio products are included in a patch release, the last released versions of the products that are not included in the patch are supported.

Essbase Administration Services 11.1.2.4.047, Provider Services 11.1.2.4.047, and Essbase Studio 11.1.2.4.045 are supported for use with Essbase 11.1.2.4.047.  Furthermore, Essbase Runtime Client needs to be updated on systems that Essbase Administration Services is installed starting with this patch.

Recommendation: After you apply a patch within the same release codeline, Oracle recommends as a best practice that you export the data from your databases, clear the data from the databases, and then reload the data.

Unsupported Features:

  • MaxL Perl Module Will No Longer Be Supported in 12.2.1.3.0
  • Essbase Native Security Mode Is No Longer Supported

Defects Fixed in this Patch:

  • 33606460 - ANY RETRIEVE ON TBLAST MEMBER IS HAVING PERFORMANCE ISSUES
  • 30043421 - DATA EXPORT IS NOT EXPORTING DATA AT BASE MEMBER INSTEAD AT IMPLIED SHARING MEMBER

Final Hyperion WebLogic 10.3.6 Patch For EPM 11.1.2.4

 Thanks to Dave Shay.

Final WebLogic 10.3.6 Patch For EPM 11.1.2.4

A commenter on this blog, Ben, shared how to get the final WebLogic 10.3.6 patch for Hyperion / Oracle EPM 11.1.2.4.  We may download this patch without needing to get a password from Oracle Support.  The patch number is:

33471254

You need to be on an active Oracle Support contract for your EPM 11.1.2.4 in order to access the patch.

Ben also indicated we may pull up an Oracle Knowledge Base article that lists the final patches for various components of the EPM 11.1.2.4 suite.  The KB # is:

2796575.1

When you pull up this KB article, crtl-f in your browser and plug in this text to jump directly to the Hyperion section:

3.3.22 Oracle Hyperion Infrastructure Technology

If your 11.1.2.4 environment includes Essbase, we can expect more Essbase 11.1.2.4 patches to come out in 2022, because (for now) EPM 11.2.x uses Essbase 11.1.2.4 under the covers.

As of EPM 11.2.7.0, Essbase 12c is still not certified for Hyperion Planning.  Once an 11.2.x comes out that certifies Essbase 12c for Planning, I'll take a closer look at it.

As per the 11.2.7.0 README, EPM 11.2.x patches are expected to be released Quarterly according to this rough schedule (Oracle Corporation's Safe Harbor applies here):  January, April, July, and October.

On Oracle's EPM 11.2 documentation hub, click "Essbase" on the left-hand side.  Among other things, we are explicitly told to use Essbase 11.1.2.4:

"Use Essbase 11.1.2.4, which is compatible with Enterprise Performance Management Release 11.2.x"

Consult the 11.2.7.0 Install+Config Guide for more information about using Essbase 12c in an EPM 11.2.5+ environment.

Many of you are on PTO this week, so you might not notice this post until early 2022.

Have a Happy New Year!

What’s new in Hyperion EPM 11.2.7 ?

  - Improved protection for your target-system data of being overwritten during data loads in FDMEE. For more information, Enable Data Protection.

There is no longer VB support for FDMEE. Customers need to migrate to Jython as the scripting language. Don’t worry if this sounds scary, we got you! Syntax can help you take care of these Jython conversions.

- There is no longer a dependency on WebLogic Admin server when starting up the EPM services.

- There is additional support for SSL for Oracle Essbase.

- There is additional support for IDM Products with header-based authentication.

- For folks who are into tuning, the default maximum heap size for Essbase JVM has changed to 1.2GB.

- After applying the 11.2.7 update, the only required configuration tasks are Deploy To Application Server for FDMEE followed by configuring the Web Server.

- Oracle JDK 1.8.0_291 is now the version of Java Development Kit installed with EPM 11.2.7.

- Be sure to review the documentation notes concerning the Windows Server 2019 Data Center Edition on the EPM support matrix. Learn more.

- The Smart View URI setting has been added back to the Workspace Server Settings in EPM Workspace. This was a bug in an earlier version.

There are no more ‘scheduler job errors’ with the task flows. You can now successfully import task flows exported from 11.1.2.4.x EPM System into 11.2.x EPM System using Lifecycle Management for Oracle EPM.

- Reference the Financial Reporting Defects Fixed page for the bugs fixed in FDMEE, Planning, and HFM.

- For Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management, Enterprise Edition users, you must grant permission prior to applying the update to Release 11.2.5 or Release 11.2.6. [On the SYSTEM.schema_version_registry table – grant all to <FDMEE_SCHEMA_UESR>]

Hyperion 11.2.7 migration path from older releases

How can you upgrade your application to 11.2.7?
