Oracle EPM Planning update for May 24.05 and Workforce Templates

CUSTOM TEMPLATE IN WORKFORCE NOW SUPPORTS MORE TEMPLATES FOR EASIER CUSTOMIZATION AND UPDATES

The Workforce custom template, OWP_Custom Template, now supports more templates.

The following additional templates now support OWP_Custom Template and will read any of the modifications you make to the custom script blocks:

  • OWP_Calculate Employee Compensation_Te
  • OWP_Process Loaded Data_T
  • OWP_Synchronize Defaults_T
  • OWP_Synchronize Definition_T

Additionally, OWP_Custom Template was updated to include three blank script blocks for each supported rule, instead of only two.

TIPS AND CONSIDERATIONS

If you've already modified OWP_Custom Template, it is not automatically updated to support the newly added third script block. If you have a use case that requires the third script block, restore the OWP_Custom Template to its original state so that it is updated, and then re-apply your modifications.

WORKFORCE BATCH RULES UPDATED TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

  • The performance of Workforce batch rules is improved.

Workforce now limits the number of rows that can be edited at one time in the Mass Update forms.

  • If you attempt to edit more rows than the limit, you'll receive an error message.
  • If you see this message, you can reduce the number of rows you are editing and re-submit the form.

PREDICTIVE CASH FORECASTING SIMPLIFIES LOADING THE OPENING BALANCE

  • Predictive Cash Forecasting now supports an easier option for loading the opening balance, which supports use cases where you can load data for any historical periods, for example, if a new bank is added within the last 365 days.

Oracle EPM and Monitoring your environments - Step by Step process !

Monitoring Environments Using Oracle Cloud Applications

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud provides My Services to monitor environments. My Services application provides both summary and detailed information to monitor active environments belonging to one identity domain.

  • My Services (Classic) - You use My Account application to monitor environments across multiple data centers and identity domains.
  • My Services (OCI) - My Account application is not available. Instead, you use Manage Account application for account management.

Using the Activity Report

The Activity Report enables Service Administrators to understand application usage. It also helps streamline application design by identifying user requests, calculation scripts, forms, reports, and so on. Two versions of the report; an HTML version and a JSON version, are available.

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud retains Activity Reports for the last 60 days only. Oracle recommends that you download and create backup copies on a local computer to analyze them for historical trends.

The Activity Report is automatically generated in these three situations:

  • Every day during daily maintenance of the service
  • Each time you submit a Provide Feedback submission
  • Every time you execute the "resetServiceEPM Automate command to restart an environment

EPM Cloud generates an additional Activity Report each time a user submits a feedback using the Provide Feedback Utility. This report, additionally, displays information that the user submitted, for example, screen shots and problem description.

Navigating the Activity Report

Select one of the following tabs for quick access to relevant information:

  • User Interface: Information about users who accessed the service.
  • Hourly: Hourly metrics including those on user interface requests and responses and Essbase operations.
  • Runtime: Runtime metrics for the application in your environment such as Supplemental Data Manager Active Data Collection Periods or Open Account Reconciliations.
  • Application: Application design metrics such as Task Manager Org Units or Essbase ASO Cubes.
  • Operational: Operational Metrics such as Daily Maintenance Duration in minutes.
  • Usage: Usage by most and least active users.

Using Access Logs to Monitor Usage

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Access Log, which helps Service Administrators understand application usage by each active user, is automatically generated during the daily maintenance of the environment.

The Access Log contains information on users who logs into the environment directly or by using tools such as EPM Automate.

EPM Cloud retains Access Logs for the last 60 days only. Oracle recommends that you download and create backup copies on a local computer to analyze them for historical trends. The Access Log for the day will not be available if you cancel the daily maintenance of the environment.

Oracle Hyperion and EPM - SmartView for Office - Update for Browser and MAC

24.05 May Update for SmartView and What is new ?

USER INTERFACE IMPROVEMENTS IN SMART VIEW (MAC AND BROWSER)

  • User interface improvements have been done in the Home panel and User Preferences panel in Smart View (Mac and Browser).
    • Right-click menu in Smart View Home panel
      • You can now right-click on forms, ad hoc grids, and other artifacts in the Smart View Home panel to open forms or ad hoc grids and launch other functionalities such as Job Console, Copy Version, Business Rules, Task List, Approvals, and User Preferences.
      • These options are additionally available under the Action menu in the Smart View Home panel.
    • Variables tab in User Preferences panel
      • The associated dimension of a user variable is now seen up-front below the user variable name, instead of as a tool tip.
      • Earlier, the user variable name acted as a button to open the Member Selector dialog, which was not intuitive.
      • Now, a dedicated ellipses menu is introduced for opening the Member Selector dialog.
  • DISPLAY MEMBER NAMES AND ALIASES IN SEPARATE COLUMNS IN SMART VIEW (MAC AND BROWSER) AD HOC GRIDS
    • A new Member display option, Member Name and Alias, allows you to display both the member names and their aliases in separate columns on row dimensions in ad hoc grids.
  • With the new Submit Zero option, you can choose to submit numeric zero values in place of #Missing label.
    • Applies to: Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Tax Reporting

  • In Smart View Options, you can enter #NumericZero as a value for replacing missing data values with zeros (0).
    • With #NumericZero, you can use functions but cannot submit zeros to the database. With the new Submit Zero option enabled, cells with the #NumericZero label are considered as actual zero (0) value for calculations and are submitted to the database correctly.

To enable submitting zeros as replacement for missing values:

  1. Open the Smart View Option panel, and then go to the Data Options tab.
  2. Under Replacement, enter #NumericZero in the #Missing/NoData Label field.
  3. Select the Submit Zero check box.

Business Benefit: The new Submit Zero check box enables you to submit zero as a replacement for missing values to the database for calculations.

  1. STEPS TO ENABLE

  • To use the Submit Zero option, Service Administrators deploy a new or reuse an existing Smart View (Mac and Browser) manifest file.
  • To deploy a new or existing manifest file:

  1. Create a new manifest file or reuse an existing manifest file.
  2. In the Create Manifest File page, make any other selections and modifications, as you require.
  3. Deploy the manifest file to Smart View (Mac and Browser) users.

Oracle EPM - Rest APIs and Accessibility

Update on Oracle EPM APIs and Accessibility for Cloud

1. RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT OF EPM AUTOMATE USING BASIC AUTHENTICATION

    • Oracle has implemented significant optimizations in basic Authentication for EPM Automate to improve its reliability and performance.

2. NEW "SECURITY REST APIS" CHAPTER IN THE REST API GUIDE

  • A new "Security REST APIs" chapter describes the REST APIs to manage security features in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.
  • In addition to the REST APIs related to security that were originally in the Migration REST APIs chapter, this chapter also includes the two new REST APIs related to restricted data access added in this update.

3. DEFINED LANDMARK REGIONS IN PAGE AREAS

  • EPM Cloud now supports defined landmark regions that aid in jump-to navigation for assistive technology users and reduces the dependency on hidden anchors and keyboard shortcuts.
  • This includes:
    • EPM Global Header banner
    • Global Menu navigation
    • Settings and Actions complementary information
    • Content Main
    • Announcements region
    • Clusters and Cards navigation
    • Cards navigation
    • Sub-tab navigation

4. REST APIS TO GET AND SET RESTRICTED DATA ACCESS

  • Two new REST APIs allow you to get and set restricted data access.
    • Get Restricted Data Access: Returns true if the environment is configured so that “Submit Application Snapshot” cannot be selected by a Service Administrator while submitting Provide Feedback; otherwise, returns false.
    • Set Restricted Data Access: Enables/disables the selection of “Submit Application Snapshot” by the Service Administrator while submitting Provide Feedback.
5. NEW SETRESTRICTEDDATAACCESS AND GETRESTRICTEDDATAACCESS EPM AUTOMATE COMMANDS

  • The setRestrictedDataAccess and getRestrictedDataAccess commands are available with this update. The setRestrictedDataAccess command configures EPM Cloud environments to prevent Service Administrators from consenting to submit an application snapshot to Oracle while using the Provide Feedback utility.
  • The getRestrictedDataAccess command displays whether an EPM Cloud environment is configured to prevent Service Administrators from consenting to submit an application snapshot to Oracle.
